This weekend, the Dirty Rotten Tequila Festival will be rocking Carfax in Joburg with acts like Frame Janko, Hellcats, Shadowclub, Strait-Jackal and many more. We caught up with Frame Janko to chat about the event and their latest album, Eyes on Fire.
You’ll be playing at the Dirty Rotten Tequila festival this weekend. What can we expect from your set?
We’ve got an energetic set ready for DTRF. We’ve been working hard for this one, and have a few surprises for the show.
Who are you most excited to watch at the event?
To be honest, the entire lineup is incredible, all of the acts are on the top of my list. It’s always nice to see Shadowclub perform, and Southern Wild will definitely take the roof off.
Is the band particularly fond of tequila?
We have tequila at every practice, religiously. So, yes.
How do you usually prepare for live shows?
Practice practice practice. And then for this particular show, we’ve been slamming more tequila than usual during rehearsals, just to get our bodies ready.
You recently released your new album, Eyes on Fire. How has the album been received so far?
The album has been received well. It’s been featured on some rad platforms, and people seem to dig it.
The album boasts some beautiful cover art. What was the inspiration behind it?
The name of the album is Eyes on Fire, so we wanted the artwork to reflect something of that. Llewellyn van Eeden (a close friend of Lev’s) did the artwork. We gave him a basic brief of someone sitting and reflecting in front of a fire, and he took it from there.
